The Lockdown Hauntings

Justin has just finished filming for award-winning director Howard J Ford’s latest film, set in lockdown. Justin plays Detective Alex Briggs. Below are some stills from the film, with thanks to Howard J Ford. The project is currently working under the name #TheLockDownHauntings with a cast dispersed over England, Europe and the US, including Tony Todd (Candyman, The Crow, Night of the Living Dead, Final Destination), Anglea Dixon (Never Let Go), Jon Campling (Harry Potter, Final Fantasy) and Heather Peace (London’s Burning, Silent Witness, Waterloo Road).

Safe Sets Training

I just completed this training for best practice on set through Safe Sets International. It’s well worth doing, free, and can be accessed here: https://practicesafesets.co/certificate/

Continuous Profesional Development

It’s really important to keep on keeping on. Moving forward. Experiencing new things, or revisiting things to make sure you’re not missing anything.

Over the past three weeks, I’ve been improving my skills. The internet is a wonderful thing, isn’t it? Through social media, I discovered a fantastic voiceover coach who I’ve been working with, re-building my understanding of the business and technical side of things, un-learning bad habits I’ve slipped into and making sure that everything in my technical chain is as good as it can be.

That’s really helped as I’ve just upgraded my home studio to a Rode NT1. I used to have the NT1-A which is a great little mike but the NT1 is an altogether richer sound. Added to that, I’ve picked up a pair of M-AUDIO AV32 monitors for my editing suite. These are excellent value and provide a rich environment to be able to really hear what’s going on in the mix.

On top of that, I’ve also been working to make sure that I’m informed, educated and trained so that, when things start moving again, I’m taking care to make sure that I, and those I’ll be working with, are safe.

So far, I’ve completed a course in CPR and First Aid through an ICOES-accredited organisation and now have a qualification that lasts for three years.

I’ve also completed the World Health Organisation course on Hand Hygiene, enabling me to understand what’s best-practice in the medical environment and which I can translate into a film (and wider) world.

So now, whether I’m recording at home or going out to work on set or in another recording studio, my skills have been updated so I’m better prepared to participate.

Welcome to my new site!

Thanks for stopping by! It’s 2020, so I finally bit the bullet and put together a website for all things Justin K Hayward. Please note, however, that I’m not the lead singer of The Moody Blues. That’s not me. So if you’re looking for autographs from him, I’m afraid I won’t be able to provide one for you.

As this is a new site, if you find anything is a little glitchy, please do let me know if you can. I’ll be making improvements as time goes by.

Thanks, wash your hands and stay safe!
